Custom Fit Seat Cover
Premium quality seat covers that are manufactured through automation systems involving computer generated designs as well as computer aided manufacturing process are termed Custom seat covers. This name is used because these covers are all custom made based on the exact make and model measurements. And thus, they always fit precisely.
Universal Fit Seat Covers
Fits any low-back or high-back bucket seat in automobile even though the make, model and the year of manufacture may differ. Universal covers are the ones that you come across normally. These covers are not recommended because they are not made with the exact specifications and so rarely offer a good fit.
Semi Custom Seat Covers
While these covers are better than the Universal variety, but they are also not favored because the level of customization is only about 80%. These covers also cannot accommodate the Safety features that all modern automobiles have in their seats.
UV Or Ultra Violet Emission
The Sun’s rays have UV properties. Radiation or emission of Ultra Violet rays that is harmful for the automobile’s upholstery. The seat covers made by Coverking of California are made by fabrics that have UV inhibiting properties.
Pelt
Stands for cured skin of rabbits, beavers, raccoon, bears, etc in which the animal fur, wool or hair is still attached. Used in seat cover for adding extra comfort, Pelt replaces genuine fur that is far too expensive.
Polyester
Polyester is a material that has become extremely popular over the years. Polyester is used in automobile seat covers as it is a tough synthetic water-resistant material and is suited to seat coverings. Polyester first became popular when it began to be favored by the disco community during the seventies.
Friction
The chafing or the rubbing action between two similar or dissimilar materials like a person’s clothing and the seat cover lead to friction. A term used in Physics, friction happens when the person is boarding the vehicle or leaving it. Heat generated through the process causes surface deterioration of the seat cover.
Pink Slip
May not have any direct bearing with automobile seat cover but somehow linked to cars that are involved in road racing. Originally standing for Vehicle Registration Certificate, Pink Slips often saved the loser’s vehicle from the winner’s claim as the tradition dictated. Unless one loses the Pink Slip, too, the vehicle’s ownership remained unaffected.
